Reading Practice

Choosing the right support for your child’s reading journey is a big decision  and we’re here to make it easy. Below you'll find answers to common questions about how Reading Practice works, who we support, and what you can expect.

  • RP is a personalised reading consultancy designed to help children, teens, and families build a genuine love for reading through tailored guidance, book suggestions, and reading support.

  • We start with a consultation to learn about your child’s reading history, interests, and needs. Based on that, we create a personalised reading pathway, offer recommendations, and check in as needed.

  • We work with children and teens aged 7–18, and we also offer support for families and guardians looking to create a reading-friendly home environment.

  • Yes! RP is designed especially for reluctant readers. We meet them where they are and gently guide them toward finding books or formats (like audiobooks or graphic novels) that they actually want to engage with.

  • RP supports readers of all abilities and will factor in any learning needs when building a personalised approach.

  • No. While books are central, we also recommend graphic novels, audiobooks, magazines, and other media if it suits the child’s interests and needs.

  • Every child is different, but many families notice increased interest in reading within a few weeks. Building a strong reading habit is a long game — RP is about fostering lasting engagement, not rushing results.

  • While we can’t guarantee love at first sight, we can promise to meet your child with patience, encouragement, and a highly personalised approach. Many children discover a new enthusiasm for reading through RP’s support.

  • That’s up to you! Some parents like to be very involved, while others prefer to let their child lead the way. We do provide suggestions for ways to support at home without pressure.

  • Simply fill out our initial contact form to book a consultation. We'll get back to you with next steps!

  • Pricing is simple and flexible, depending on the level of support you're after. We'll discuss options during your first contact, with no obligation to commit. Our focus is on finding the right fit for your family, not pushing a one-size-fits-all package.

  • After the initial consultation, some families choose a one-off reading pathway, while others book regular check-ins (monthly or quarterly). We can tailor the frequency based on your child’s needs and your preferences.

  • Yes! We offer flexible options for ongoing support, whether it’s occasional refreshes to your child’s reading list, milestone check-ins, or more structured ongoing encouragement. You can choose the level of involvement that suits you best.
