 Reading Practice

Reading Practice supports the development of two powerful identities; the reader and the analyst.

Through literature and information literacy, we help young people build empathy, think critically, and engage with the world around them with confidence and selfhood.

The Why

Here’s what we see.
Most kids start school excited about books. They borrow. They take books home. They get excited about stories. But by Year 4, that joy starts to slip away. Life gets busier and sometimes reading takes the backburner. By high school, phones and screens take over. Reading drops off entirely. By then, an influx of information comes fast but without the skills to sort it, question it, or understand it. At this point, most kids are reluctant or sometimes even down right proud to not read. Which is horrifying, to be frank. Reading has a reputation problem. Reading Practice is here to fix it.
